Linkwood 2008 Maltbarn 12 years 52.9% (sherry cask)
Sherried Linkwood. Maltbarn 161.
Colour Light gold.
Nose Floral and grassy. Buttery, croissants. Light wafts of dried fruits, raisins. Refill cask presumably… a squeeze of lemon, vermouth and soda… a drop of olive oil. Caramel. With water, a little musty wood, savoury.
Palate Very creamy. Oranges and tangerines, nice and bright. Toffee, fresh orchard fruits, perhaps lychee… malt. with water, a bit more floral, also (as is common) caramel.
Finish Orange sherbet. Dried fruits, bright acidity. Quite floral, buttery. Long and hot. With water, acidity resolves into orange juice.
Comments Solid Linkwood. Understated sherry, very much appreciated. 84/100.
