Deanston 2013 Adelphi 7 years 58.1% (bourbon cask)
Deaston, but not really an Adelphi… young and bourbon cask.
Colour Straw.
Nose Fruity. Yoghurt, lactic. Wine gummies and blackberry jam. Okay, interesting given the cask. Banana lollies. Creamy, malty. Vanilla custard. A little wax. Rosemary. Milk bottles. Malt.
Palate Caramel and toffee. Brown sugar. So creamy, a touch of chalk. Lemons and limes. A little bit of astringency: quite pleasant. Malt explosion. With water: grain and caramel notes become even more powerful. Still pretty hot.
Finish Caramel and malt. Malty as hell. Scotch fingers and cookies. Grain driven sweetness. A touch herbaceous. Bananas. Long and warming. A little chalky. With water: desiccated coconut.
Comments Very strong execution. Terrific malt forward dram. Bananas and grain sweetness. Real classic. 88/100.
